On June 27th, the 3rd night Tim had been there, I walked back to the camp site from the community showers (which, were surprisingly nice). The walk back to the camp site seemed to be a bit of a blur and all I can remember is smiling from ear to ear. I skimmed the camp site, where everyone was hanging out, looking for Tim. Not seeing him, I went into the camper to get ready for the night, luckily he was in there alone. When I walked in with this silly grin and laughter, so many thoughts were running through my head, how will I tell him such exciting, life changing news... the news we'd been praying about. In that moment, it was as if God handed me the opportunity. Tim asked me to come sit by him and began to tell me that he was so excited to start a family! I told him, you won't have to wait much longer... because we're pregnant!!!!!! We were ecstatic and anxious. We made the decision not to tell anyone until (at the earliest) after we had gone to the doctor. All I could do was keep looking at the HPT asking Tim, are we sure those lines are right? He kept reassuring me, the optimist that he is, "yea babe, you are pregnant!". Shortly after we got ready for the night, we drove around Concan and Leakey in search of another pregnancy test, LOL, I had to have reassurance. Besides, who can really just take 1??? So, we drove around the beautiful hill country and finally found a store that carried a HPT. When we got back to camp, the news was confirmed again!
The next week we tried to play it cool. It isn't atypical of me to have a beer or two or three while on the river. So, to TRY and alleviate some of the suspicion, Tim would drink a beer and fill the empty can with water and I'd pretend to be enjoying a cold one. I recently found out that our plan still left some suspicious. Maybe it was the sprite and root beer I suddenly had a liking for, lol! Oh well!
I have to say, this was the first year (since I was 6) I was ready to get home. I had worked myself up and decided that I still needed to take another test, one that read "YES" or "PREGNANT". So, once we got back home (on July 3rd) , I did... and it said "YES"! The following Monday I called Dr. Mullin's office and made an appointment. Hearing the receptionist say, so nonchalantly, "okay, so you are due in March..." made it so real, up to that point! We had to wait 3 long weeks until Friday, July 23rd!!! I thought I was impatient before....
It's unfortunate that I didn't even think to pull out my camera until we were leaving. I really wish I'd taken more pictures of the trip that brought such amazing news! Kimberly took some pics, I'll have to get those from her and post them.
More posts coming soon....
