Seeing a Miracle

In those 3 weeks, Tim and I purchased books and started reading up on what's going on with our little peanut. Tim jokes that he's "on the 8th month of pregnancy already (in his book) and isn't sure what is taking your body so long"! Ha, I wish it was that fast!!

Friday finally came. I was anxious, scared, excited, and just emotional! Tim just kept saying, "everything is going to be fine, stop thinking of all the bad things that could happen"... easy for him to say! How does he know that? I'd rather be prepared for the worse. I'm a realist (or Negative Nancy, if you ask Timmy).

We were told to get there early, so we arrived at 8:00a.m. for our 8:30a.m. appointment. I filled out tons of paperwork while Tim read up on celebrities. He was great... calm, cool, collected, just as I knew he would be. We only had to wait about 20 minutes. The nurse weighed me (always fun), took all my vitals, etc. I just knew my blood pressure would be off the charts, but the nurse reassured me that everything looked great! Dr. Mullin came in and introduced herself to each of us and after we established that the 'K' and the 'N' are both pronounced in Knable, we got down down to business!

She asked how I'd been feeling. I couldn't really complain, no nausea and no vomiting, just the typical headaches, fatigue, body aches, and moodiness (which is actually pretty normal for me now that I think about, lol). She told me that based on the date of my LMP I was due March 4th! She said, "Okay, let's discuss a few things and then hopefully on to the fun part". The word "hopefully" made my heart drop, hearing it made me nervous... she's right 'hopefully' little bit is growing healthy and is, well, in there. I assume Dr. Mullin was just being cautious through her word choice.

She took us to the ultrasound room and we did get to the 'fun part'! As the ultrasound began, Tim grabbed my hand. Dr. Mullin said "And there's your baby, congratulations!" The next part was undeniable and incredible! The room filled with the sound of Baby K's little (or big) heartbeat, it was in the whopping 170s! A sound, that for the rest of my life, I will always remember. She kept moving the probe so we could get a better look at the little guy (gal)... there is NOTHING like seeing a litte itty, bitty being inside of you. Dr. Mullin said the baby was measuring right on track! Tim and I were on cloud 9, so the remainder of the visit was kind of a blur. After we left, I had to go get blood work done. I hate needles, hate them. That sounds silly, when you think of all the pain I'll be enduring to bring this little one into the world. Even still, I hate needles.

Our next appointment was scheduled for Friday, August 6th at 10 weeks. That was 2 weeks ago. When we went to that appointment I found out that all my blood work and urine analysis came back negative, great news!! I have a positive blood type, so I don't have to go through getting the RH Negative shot...again with the needles, lol.

At the 10 week appointment we not only saw the baby's heartbeat (163!) but we saw the baby MOVE! Dr. Mullin kept pushing on my abdomen to get the baby to move and finally it did... I thought hearing the heartbeat took the cake, seeing little leg and arm buds move was right there with it!!!!! Words can't express...

We scheduled our next appointment for September 1st at 14 weeks (stepping off into the 2nd trimester, craziness)
Here are a few pics from our first appointment at 8 weeks. I did get a 10 week sonogram picture, but it was not the best quality. I'll try to fix the quality and post it as well, the only difference is you can see arm and leg buds on the 10 week picture. Enjoy!

Anxiously waiting to see!
