"I saw God today..."

Today we went to the doctor for our 18 week appointment. It's been 4 weeks since we've been. I had my hopes up VERY HIGH that we would find out the sex of our little bit today. Dr. Mullin informed us at 14 weeks that we would be finding out at 20 weeks when we do the big anatomy appointment.

Since our 14 week appointment, I've been telling everyone that I was going to ask Dr. Mullin at our 18 week appointment if she could just do an ultrasound to tell us the gender. As today started getting closer and closer, I started getting anxious and nervous. I was anxious because I had gotten my hopes up so high that we would find out and I was nervous to ask Dr. Mullin to go against what her usual practice is. I don't know the protocol for that. I had told my family, friends, and co-workers that today might be the day, so I had it in my mind that it would be!

Before I made it into the room, Tim had told the nurse how anxious we were to find out and we didn't want to wait 2 more weeks. When I came into the room, the nurse told me to just ask Dr. Mullin. When Dr. Mullin came in she did the usual Q&A and then smiled and said "I hear you guys are really hoping to find out today, huh?" We were like, WELL YEAAAAAA! Then she said, "Alright, well you guys are my last appointment for the day so let's head back to do an ultrasound." Tim and I were speechless. Then pregnancy got the best of me and I started bawling, just at hearing the words "let's go find out what your having"... haha! I was thrilled that Dr. Mullin did this favor for us!

We went into the room and joked about how it is probably a girl and Tim will be that guy that has like 5 girls and no little boys. Dr. Mullin turned off the lights and put the probe on my small bump and said "Wow, your baby is cooperating great... it's definitely a BOY, congratulations!" Tim and I were so excited... and again this brought on the flowing of tears from me. Even Tim got tears in his eyes, which I've only seen like twice in the 7 years I've known him. It was a great moment for the both of us. Our little boy's heart rate was 154 today! We saw his little head (which resembled that of an alien), we saw his fingers, legs, and arms... and of course his little "package". Obviously, our #1 concern is having a healthy baby, but knowing the sex is just an added bonus! :)

After the exciting part, I was on to get my flu shot. I was fine with it, even though a needle was involved, I was on such a high she could have amputated my arm and I wouldn't have noticed! We then found out that the nurse put a bug in Dr. Mullin's ear and let her know how anxious we were to find out. I couldn't stop thanking the nurse for priming Dr. Mullin up for us before we saw her, lol! I'm not going to post the ultrasound pictures because they are poor quality! I'll post the ones we get at our next appointment at 21 weeks.

I was also excited because I had only gained 2lbs since our last appointment 4 weeks ago! Sweet. I'm still trying to stay on the health kick, hope I can keep it up.

We rushed home so we could both get on the landlines to call everyone! It was a very exciting day. Then Tim suggested we go out to dinner to celebrate and then to Babies R Us for our first inaugural baby BOY purchase!

Our first baby BOY purchases.
A sports themed baby book and a froggy onsie that his Daddy picked out! :)

P.S. Want to know his name? Start at the top of the post and put together all the bold, blue letters in order. :) Haha!

As always, God is good.
